Riverwalk Counseling Center celebrates Five Years in the Community

By Daina Saleh For The Sun February 8, 2013 1:44PM

Charlene Thobe Scott, a longtime Naperville resident, was encouraged by an ever-growing network of friends and colleagues to start her own business a few years ago. Initially practicing alone, therapists soon joined and Riverwalk Counseling Center was born.

“There are many people in the Naperville area who require our services but may feel anxious about starting treatment. We work hard at making them comfortable so they can get the help they need,” says Scott, hinting at the obstacles clients have to overcome to feel trust in a therapist and practice.

Riverwalk Counseling Center has five therapists who work with children, adolescents and adults in individual, group, couples and family sessions, with expertise in addictions, dual diagnosis, mood disorders, women’s issues and couples therapy.

Scott summarizes the goals of the practice: “Between the patients and the staff, we held onto a vision of creating an atmosphere where people would feel comfortable sharing a vulnerable aspect of their lives and move forward in a healthier way.”
