Char Scott is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience helping individuals achieve emotional well-being, resilience, and more fulfilling lives. Her work is grounded in compassion, clinical depth, and a strong belief in each person’s capacity for growth and change.
Char specializes in working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, and complex life transitions. She brings extensive experience across the full continuum of care, including outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP), and inpatient psychiatry. Her approach is psychodynamically informed and integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), allowing for both insight-oriented and practical, skills-based work.
Increasingly, Char’s work has evolved toward supporting other helping professionals. She has developed a specialization as a “therapist’s therapist,” providing a space for clinicians, healthcare workers, and those in high-demand roles to process the emotional impact of their work, prevent burnout, and sustain meaningful careers. She understands firsthand the pressures of caring professions and offers a reflective, nonjudgmental space where professionals can step out of their role and focus on their own well-being.
Char has completed her Doctorate in Education (EdD) at the University of Illinois. Her doctoral research focused on workplace self-care, burnout, and trauma-informed organizational practices, emphasizing the shared responsibility between individuals and organizations in sustaining the mental health workforce.
Throughout her career, Char has contributed to the development of behavioral health programming, including co-occurring disorder programs at MacNeal Hospital and Linden Oaks Hospital.
In addition to her clinical practice, Char has an extensive background in social work education. She previously served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Southern California School of Social Work, where she trained and supported future clinicians.
Char lives and works in Naperville, Illinois, and remains deeply connected to the local community. She collaborates with schools, healthcare providers, and organizations, and maintains a trusted network of physicians and treatment professionals to support comprehensive, coordinated care when needed.
Char currently accepts referrals, with a particular focus on therapists, healthcare professionals, and others in high-demand roles seeking a space for their own support, reflection, and renewal.
